Umar bin Khattab, may Allah the Exalted be pleased with him, was distinguished above the people in four matters. The first was the matter of the prisoners on the day of Badr. He ordered that they be killed, and Allah revealed "Had it not been for a decree from Allah that came before, a great punishment would have touched you for what you took" [Anfal 8:68].The second was the matter of the screen. He told the wives of the Prophet ﷺ to veil themselves, and Zaynab said to him, "You presume over us, son of Khattab, while revelation comes down in our houses." Then Allah
revealed "And when you ask them for something, ask them from behind a screen" [Ahzab 33:53].The third was the supplication of the Prophet ﷺ for him, "Allah, strengthen Islam with Umar."The fourth was his judgment concerning Abu Bakr. He was the first of the people to pledge allegiance to him.

Its isnad is hasan. Abu Nadr Hashim bin Qasim heard from Masudi after his memory had changed. As for Abu Mushil, Dhahabi said he is not known, and Husayni said he is unidentified, and Hafiz said in Tajil, Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators. I say, Bukhari gave his biography in Kuna, number 734, and did not mention any criticism of him, and this, in our view, is a sign of his reliability.Dulabi related the hadith in Kuna 2:142, from Hasan bin Ali bin Affan, from Zayd bin Hubab, from Masudi, with his isnad and its meaning. He then said, I heard Abbas bin Muhammad say, I heard Yahya bin Main say, Abu Mushil, from whom Masudi narrated, no one else narrated from him.It is also found in Majma al-Zawaid 9:67, where he said, Ahmad, Bazzar, and Tabarani related it, and it contains Abu Mushil, whom I do not know, and the rest of its narrators are trustworthy. It is likewise in Durr Manthur 3:201–202, where he attributed it to Tabarani and Ibn Mardawayh only, then mentioned it again in 5:214, attributing it to Ibn Mardawayh only. See also 208, 3632–3634, 3842."Yutabiuhu", in manuscript Ha it reads "tabiahu", which is a scribal error that we corrected based on manuscript Kaf and the sources we referred to above.
