Alqama and I entered upon Abdullah bin Masud at midday. When the sun began to decline, he called the iqamah for prayer, and we stood behind him. He took my hand and the hand of my companion and placed us on either side of him, standing between us. Then he said, "This is how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do when there were three of them."Then he led us in prayer. When he finished, he said, "There will come rulers who delay the prayer beyond its proper time. Do not wait for them to pray it. Pray it on time, and let your prayer with them be voluntary."

دخلت أنا وعلقمة على عبد الله بن مسعود بالهاجرة فلما مالت الشمس أقام الصلاة وقمنا خلفه فأخذ بيدي وبيد صاحبي فجعلنا عن ناحيتيه وقام بيننا ثم قال هكذا كان رسول الله ﷺ يصنع إذا كانوا ثلاثة ثم صلى بنا فلما انصرف قال إنها ستكون أئمة يؤخرون الصلاة عن مواقيتها فلا تنتظروهم بها واجعلوا الصلاة معهم سبحة
