I came in to see the Prophet ﷺ while he was suffering from a fever. I placed my hand on him and said, "You are burning with a severe fever."He replied, "I suffer fever as two men among you would."I said, "That must be because you have a double reward."He answered, "Indeed. No believer is afflicted by illness or anything else without Allah causing his sins to fall away because of it, just as a tree sheds its leaves."
حدثنا محمد بن عبيد حدثنا الأعمش عن إبراهيم التيمي عن الحارث بن سويد قال
دخلت على النبي ﷺ وهو يوعك فوضعت يدي عليه وقلت إنك توعك وعكا شديدا قال إني أوعك كما يوعك رجلان منكم قال قلت ذاك بأن لك أجرين قال أجل ما من مؤمن يصيبه مرض فما سواه إلا حط الله به خطاياه كما تحط الشجرة ورقها
