He called for water, then rinsed his mouth and nose, washed his face three times, washed each of his forearms three times, wiped his head, and washed the tops of his feet. Then he laughed and said to his companions, "Will you not ask me what made me laugh?"They asked, "What made you laugh, Commander of the Faithful?"He said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ call for water near this very spot. He performed ablution just as I have done, then he laughed and said, 'Will you not ask me what made me laugh?'They asked, 'What made you laugh, Messenger of Allah?'He said, 'When a servant calls for water for ablution and washes his face, Allah removes from him every sin his face committed. When he washes his forearms, the same occurs. When he wipes his head, the same occurs. And when he cleanses his feet, the same occurs.'"
