Abdullah bin Masud reported,

We used to talk during the prayer, greet one another with salaam, and give instructions about our needs. Then I came to the Prophet ﷺ and greeted him while he was praying, but he did not return my greeting. I was overcome with worry about what had happened, both old and new. When he finished praying, he said, "Allah decrees of His command whatever He wills, and He has now decreed that you not speak during the prayer."

عن عبد الله قال

كنا نتكلم في الصلاة ويسلم بعضنا على بعض ويوصي أحدنا بالحاجة فأتيت النبي ﷺ فسلمت عليه وهو يصلي فلم يرد علي فأخذني ما قدم وما حدث فلما صلى قال إن الله عز وجل يحدث من أمره ما شاء وإنه قد أحدث أن لا تكلموا في الصلاة
