Abdullah bin Masud reported,

"Allah has cursed the women who tattoo and those who have themselves tattooed, those who pluck hair from their faces, and those who file their teeth for beauty, altering what Allah has created."A woman in the house called Umm Yaqub heard about this. She came to him and said, "I have been told that you said such and such."He replied, "Why should I not curse those whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ cursed, and who are cursed in the Book of Allah?"She said, "I have read what is between its two covers and I have not found it there."He answered, "If you had truly read it, you would have found it. Have you not read 'Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you, refrain from it' [Hashr 59:7]?"She said, "Of course."He said, "The Prophet ﷺ forbade it."She said, "I suspect your own wife does these things."He said, "Go and look."So she went and inspected, but found nothing of what she was looking for. She came back and said, "I saw nothing."He said, "If she were like that, she would not be living with us."The narrator said, I also heard it from Abdul-Rahman bin Abis, who narrated it from Umm Yaqub, having heard it from her directly, but I chose the narration of Mansur.
