Abdullah came to Sham, and some people from Homs said to him, "Recite to us."So he recited to them Surah Yusuf. A man from the group said, "By Allah, it was not revealed like this."Abdullah replied, "Woe to you! By Allah, I recited it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in this very way, and he said to me, 'You have done well.'"While he was conversing with him, he caught the smell of wine on him. He said, "Do you drink this filth and disbelieve in the Quran? By Allah, you will not leave me until I flog you."So he flogged him with the prescribed punishment.
حدثنا ابن نمير ويعلى عن الأعمش عن إبراهيم
أتى عبد الله الشام فقال له ناس من أهل حمص اقرأ علينا فقرأ عليهم سورة يوسف فقال رجل من القوم والله ما هكذا أنزلت فقال عبد الله ويحك والله لقد قرأتها على رسول الله ﷺ هكذا فقال أحسنت فبينا هو يراجعه إذ وجد منه ريح الخمر فقال أتشرب الرجس وتكذب بالقرآن والله لا تزاولني حتى أجلدك فجلده الحد
