Ashath bin Qays came in upon Abdullah on the day of Ashura while he was eating his midday meal.Abdullah said, "Abu Muhammad, come and join the meal."Ashath replied, "Is today not the day of Ashura?"Abdullah said, "Do you know what the day of Ashura is? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast it before Ramadan was prescribed, but when Ramadan was prescribed, he abandoned it."
