He traced it back to the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "Keep up your recitation of the Quran, for it slips away from the hearts of Some men more swiftly than livestock from their tethers. How wretched it is for one of them to say, 'I forgot such-and-such a verse.' Rather, he was made to forget."
