We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a cave when "By those sent forth in succession" [Mursalat 77:1] was revealed. We were receiving it directly from his mouth when a snake came out of its hole. We rushed at it, but it escaped us and went back into its hole.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It has been spared your harm, and you have been spared its harm."
