Abdullah bin Masud reported,

I asked, "Messenger of Allah, which deeds are most beloved to Allah ?"He answered, "Praying the prayer at its proper time."I asked, "Then which?"He said, "Kindness to one's parents."I asked, "Then which?"He said, "Then jihad in the cause of Allah."Had I asked him for more, he would have told me more.

قلت يا رسول الله أي الأعمال أحب إلى الله عز وجل قال صل الصلاة لمواقيتها قلت ثم أي قال بر الوالدين قلت ثم أي قال ثم الجهاد في سبيل الله ولو استزدته لزادني
