We asked our Prophet ﷺ about the pace at which a funeral procession should walk. He said, "The pace is less than a brisk trot. If the deceased was righteous, then he is being hastened toward good. If he was otherwise, then away with the people of the Fire. The funeral is followed, and whoever walks in front of it is not one of us."

سألنا نبينا ﷺ عن السير بالجنازة فقال السير دون الخبب فإن يك خيرا تعجل إليه وإن يك سوى ذلك فبعدا لأهل النار الجنازة متبوعة وليس منا من تقدمها
