Abdullah bin Masud reported,

A man came to him and said, "I recited the entire Mufassal section in a single rakah."He replied, "You rushed through it like one rattling off poetry, or like dates falling scattered from a palm. But the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not do as you have done. He used to recite paired surahs together, such as ar-Rahman and an-Najm in a single rakah."Abu Ishaq then mentioned ten rakahs containing twenty surahs paired according to the arrangement of Abdullah, the last of which were "When the sun is wrapped up" and "ad-Dukhan."

أن رجلا أتاه فقال قرأت المفصل في ركعة فقال بل هذذت كهذ الشعر أو كنثر الدقل لكن رسول الله ﷺ لم يفعل كما فعلت كان يقرأ النظر الرحمن والنجم في ركعة قال فذكر أبو إسحاق عشر ركعات بعشرين سورة على تأليف عبد الله آخرهن إذا الشمس كورت والدخان
