Abdullah bin Masud reported,

We used to say while sitting in prayer, "Peace be upon Allah, peace be upon us from our Lord, peace be upon Jibreel and Mikail, peace be upon so-and-so, peace be upon so-and-so."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah Himself is As-Salam (Peace). So when you sit in prayer, say, 'All greetings, prayers, and good things are for Allah. Peace be upon you, Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah.' For when one says this, it reaches every righteous servant in the heavens and the earth. 'I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.' Then let him choose whatever supplication he wishes."Sulayman said, Ibrahim also narrated it to me from Aswad from Abdullah with the same wording.

حدثنا أبو سعيد حدثنا زائدة حدثنا الأعمش عن شقيق

عن عبد الله قال

كنا إذا قعدنا في الصلاة قلنا السلام على الله السلام علينا من ربنا السلام على جبريل وميكائيل السلام على فلان السلام على فلان فقال رسول الله ﷺ إن الله هو السلام فإذا قعدتم في الصلاة فقولوا التحيات لله والصلوات والطيبات السلام عليك أيها النبي ورحمة الله وبركاته السلام علينا وعلى عباد الله الصالحين فإنه إذا قال ذلك أصابت كل عبد صالح في السماء والأرض أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وأشهد أن محمدا عبده ورسوله ثم يتخير من الكلام ما شاء قال سليمان وحدثنيه أيضا إبراهيم عن الأسود عن عبد الله بمثله
