Zirr reported,

Someone said to Ibn Masud, "How do you read this word, is it 'maain ghayri yasin' or 'aasin'?"The man added, "I have already read the entire Quran."Ibn Masud asked, "And how do you read it?"The man replied, "I recite the entire Mufassal section in a single rakah."Ibn Masud said, "Are you reciting it as hastily as one rattles off poetry, may you be without a father! I know well the pairings that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite, joining them two by two from the beginning of the Mufassal."The first surah of the Mufassal according to Ibn Masud was ar-Rahman.
