Muhammad saw Jibreel in his true form only twice. On one occasion, he asked Jibreel to show him himself in his true form, so he showed him his form, and it filled the entire horizon. On the other occasion, Jibreel ascended with him when he was taken up.As for His statement, "And he was in the highest part of the horizon. Then he approached and came closer, until he was at a distance of two bow-lengths or nearer. So he revealed to His servant what he revealed" [Najm 53:7–10], when Jibreel sensed his Lord, he returned to his true form and prostrated. And His statement, "And he certainly saw him in another descent, at the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary, near it is the Garden of Refuge, when there covered the Lote Tree that which covered it. The sight did not swerve, nor did it transgress its limit. He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord" [Najm 53:13–18], this refers to the creation of Jibreel .
