Its isnad is sahih. Isa bin Asim Asadi is trustworthy, and Ahmad and Nasai and others confirmed his trustworthiness. The hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud 4:24. Munziri said, Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah also narrated it, and Tirmidhi said, hasan sahih, we do not know it except through the hadith of Salama bin Kuhayl.Khattabi said, and Muhammad bin Ismail said, Sulayman bin Harb used to reject this and say, this phrase is not the saying of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, it seems rather to be the saying of Ibn Masud. This is the end of his statement.Tirmidhi related from Bukhari, from Sulayman bin Harb, something similar, namely that what he rejected was the phrase "wa ma lana illa" (there is none of us but). That is all.He means that his statement "wa ma minna illa" (there is none of us but) is a stopped (mawquf) saying belonging to Ibn Masud's own words, with the excepted matter omitted. He means, there is none of us but has this within him, but Allah removes it through reliance on Him, and the omission is because it is already understood.Isa bin Asim has no narration in the Six Books except this one hadith.
