The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to discourage us from staying up talking after the night prayer.

Its isnad is hasan. Ata is Ibn Saaib, and we have not verified whether Jarra bin Mulayh, the father of Waki, narrated from him before his confusion set in. The hadith was narrated by Ibn Majah, 1:123, through Muhammad bin Fadl, from Ata. Sindi said, In Zawaid, this isnad has reliable narrators, and I know of no defect in it except the confusion of Ata bin Saaib.
