The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not buy fish while it is still in the water, for that is a transaction involving uncertainty."
حدثنا محمد بن السماك عن يزيد بن أبي زياد عن المسيب بن رافع
قال رسول الله ﷺ لا تشتروا السمك في الماء فإنه غرر

Its isnad is daif due to a break in the chain. Musayab bin Rafi Asadi Kahili, the blind man, was a trustworthy successor (tabii thiqa), and Bukhari recorded his biography (4/1/407-408), but he did not meet Ibn Masud. Ibn Main said, "He heard from none of the companions except Bara and Abu Iyas Amir bin Abda." Ibn Abu Hatim said in Maraseel (76), "I heard my father say, 'Musayab bin Rafi narrating from Ibn Masud is a mursal report.'" And I heard my father say on another occasion, "Musayab bin Rafi never met Ibn Masud, nor did he meet Ali, he only narrates from Mujahid and the like."As for Muhammad bin Simak, he is Muhammad bin Sabih, with a fatha on the sad, Abu Abbas Simak. He is trustworthy, mentioned by Ibn Hibban among the trustworthy narrators, and Bukhari recorded his biography in Kabir (1/1/106-107). He also has an extensive biography in Tarikh Baghdad by Khatib (5:368-373), where it is reported from Ibn Numayr, who said, "Muhammad bin Simak related to us, and as far as I knew he was truthful, though he sometimes narrated from weak narrators." Husayni claimed that he was unknown, but Hafiz refuted this in Tajeel, and elaborated on his biography (264-265).This hadith was reported by Bayhaqi in Sunan al-Kubra (5:340) and by Khatib in the biography of Ibn Simak, both through the path of the musannid. Bayhaqi said, "It was reported this way as a raised (marfu) narration, but there is a break (irsal) between Musayab and Ibn Masud. The correct version is what Hushaym reported from Yazid as a stopped (mawquf) report attributed to Abdullah." It was also reported by Sufyan Thawri from Yazid as a mawquf report attributed to Abdullah, that he disliked selling fish while still in the water.Khatib said, "Qutayi said, 'Abu Abdul-Rahman [meaning Abdullah bin Ahmad] said, "My father said, and Hushaym related it to us from Yazid without raising it (without marfu)."'"I say, Zaida bin Qudama likewise reported it from Yazid bin Abu Ziyad as a mawquf report attributed to Ibn Masud, and this is the correct version. See Muntaqa (2789).This hadith is also in Majma al-Zawaid (80), where it is said, "Ahmad reported it both as mawquf and marfu, and Tabarani in Kabir did likewise. The narrators of the mawquf version are the narrators of the sahih. As for the narrators of the marfu version, Ahmad's teacher Muhammad bin Simak, I found no one who recorded his biography, but the rest are trustworthy." This statement is not carefully verified, and the correct analysis is what we explained above.
