The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is not one among you who has not been assigned a companion from the jinn and a companion from the angels."They asked, "Even you, Messenger of Allah?"He replied, "Even me, but Allah has helped me against him, so he commands me with nothing but truth."
Its isnad is sahih. Salim bin Abu Jaad, his reliability was already established at 439. His father, Abu Jaad, is Rafi Ghatafani, a trustworthy successor. Ibn Hibban mentioned him in Al-Thiqat, and Bukhari gave his biography in Al-Kabir 2/1/278, saying, "Rafi Abu Jaad Ashjai Ghatafani, their freedman, was a reciter of the Quran. He heard from Ibn Masud and from Ali, and his son Salim narrated from him." In Al-Tahdheeb it is mentioned that some scholars counted him among the companions. The hadith was narrated by Muslim, 2:346, through the route of Sufyan from Mansur, and through the route of Jareer from Mansur. Its meaning has already appeared in the hadith of Ibn Abbas at 2323, where we pointed out this narration of Muslim's for the same hadith.
