Abdullah said to Ibn al-Nawaha, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Were it not that you are an envoy, I would have killed you.' But today you are no envoy. Kharasha, get up and strike off his neck."So Kharasha rose and struck off his neck.

Its isnad is sahih. Abu Dawud narrated it in 3:38–39 at greater length via the route of Sufyan from Abu Ishaq. Something similar will come at 3708, at greater length, via the route of Aasim from Abu Waail from Ibn Masud. This Abdullah bin Nawwaha had been sent by Musaylima the liar to the Prophet ﷺ, and for that reason, despite recognizing him, he was not killed. But when Ibn Masud gained power over him, he killed him. He is mentioned in Isabah 5:145. It is clear that he is different from Ibn Nawwaha whom Ali ordered to remain, as mentioned previously at 861.
