Ibn Abbas delivered a sermon to the people at the end of Ramadan and said, "People of Basra, pay the zakat for your fasting."The people began looking at one another, so he said, "Who here is from the people of Madinah? Stand up and teach your brothers, for they do not know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made the charity of Ramadan obligatory, half a saa of wheat, or a saa of barley, or a saa of dates, upon the slave and the free, the male and the female."
حدثنا يزيد قال أخبرنا حميد
خطب ابن عباس في الناس آخر رمضان فقال يا أهل البصرة أدوا زكاة صومكم قال فجعل الناس ينظر بعضهم إلى بعض فقال من هاهنا من أهل المدينة قوموا فعلموا إخوانكم فإنهم لا يعلمون أن رسول الله ﷺ فرض صدقة رمضان نصف صاع من بر أو صاعا من شعير أو صاعا من تمر على العبد والحر والذكر والأنثى
