Its isnad is daif. Dujayn, with damma on the dal and fatha on the jim, is Ibn Thabit al-Yarbui al-Basri, and he is daif. Ibn Main, Nasai, Abu Hatim, Abu Zura, and Daraqutni all declared him daif. Ibn Hibban said, "He had little hadith and his narration was objectionable despite its scarcity. He would garble reports, and hadith was not really his field."Bukhari related in al-Tarikh al-Saghir, 181, from Ibn Madini, from Abdul-Rahman bin Mahdi, who said, "Dujayn first told us, 'A freedman of Umar bin Abdul-Aziz narrated to me,' but this man had not met Umar bin Khattab, so Dujayn abandoned that claim. They kept pressing him until he said, 'Aslam, the freedman of Umar bin Khattab.' But this should not be relied upon, for he was confused and did not know what he was saying."Dhahabi mentioned in al-Mizan that some people reported from Yahya bin Main that he said, "Dujayn is Juha." Dhahabi said, "This is not soundly established from him. Ibn Mubarak, Waki, and Abdul-Samad all narrated from Dujayn, and these men were too knowledgeable and God-fearing to narrate from Juha. Dujayn was a Bedouin from Banu Yarbu."The hadith appears in Majma al-Zawaid, 1:142-143, where it is also attributed to Abu Yaala, and Dhahabi attributed it to Ibn Adi.
