The Messenger of Allah ﷺ combined the noon and afternoon prayers, and the sunset and night prayers, without rain or travel.They asked, "Abu Abbas, what did he intend by that?"He replied, "To make things easier for his community."
حدثنا يحيى عن داود بن قيس قال حدثني صالح مولى التوأمة
جمع رسول الله ﷺ بين الظهر والعصر والمغرب والعشاء في غير مطر ولا سفر قالوا يا أبا عباس ما أراد بذلك قال التوسع على أمته
Its chain of transmission is sahih, for Salih bin Nabhan, the freedman of Tawama, became confused in memory at the end of his life, but I consider it more likely that Dawud bin Qays heard from him early on, since he was his fellow townsman, as both of them were in Madinah. This hadith is a repetition of 2557.
