Quraysh said to the Prophet ﷺ, "Ask your Lord to turn Mount Safa into gold for us. If it becomes gold, we will follow you and know that what you have said is true."So he asked his Lord , and Jibreel came to him and said, "If you wish, this Safa will become gold for them, but whoever among them disbelieves after that, I will punish him with a punishment unlike any I inflict on anyone in the worlds. Or if you wish, We will open for them the gates of Tawba."He said, "My Lord, rather open for them the gates of Tawba."
Its isnad is sahih, and it is a repetition of 2166. Thawri's narration here has, "from Imran Abu Hakam Sulami," which is correct. This shows that the error we pointed out there is not from Thawri, but from one of the narrators after him, or perhaps from one of the narrators of the Musnad. See 2333.
