A woman lifted up a young child of hers and asked, "Messenger of Allah, does this one have a valid Hajj?"He replied, "Yes, and you will have a reward."
حدثنا عبد الرحمن عن سفيان عن إبراهيم بن عقبة
أن امرأة رفعت صبيا لها فقالت يا رسول الله ألهذا حج قال نعم ولك أجر
Its isnad is sahih, even though it appears at first glance to be a mursal narration, for Ibrahim bin Uqba relates it from Kurayb from Ibn Abbas, as has already passed at 1898 and 1899 through the narration of Sufyan bin Uyayna and Mamar from him. Muslim likewise related it, 1:379, by way of Ibn Uyayna.As for the one who related it here as mursal, that is Sufyan Thawri, and Muslim also related it through his route, but it is to be understood as connected, as we have said, and that is why Muslim included it in his Sahih. Indeed, Thawri also related it as connected, as will come at 3202, and see 2610.
