The Prophet ﷺ set out from Madinah during Ramadan with ten thousand Muslims, this being eight and a half years after his arrival in Madinah. He marched with the Muslims accompanying him toward Makkah, fasting along with them, until he reached al-Kadid, which lies between Usfan and Qudayd. There he broke his fast, and the Muslims with him broke theirs as well, and he did not continue fasting.
حدثنا عبد الرزاق عن معمر قال قال الزهري فأخبرني عبيد الله بن عبد الله بن عتبة
أن النبي ﷺ خرج في رمضان من المدينة معه عشرة آلاف من المسلمين وذلك على رأس ثمان سنين ونصف من مقدمه المدينة فسار بمن معه من المسلمين إلى مكة يصوم ويصومون حتى إذا بلغ الكديد وهو ما بين عسفان وقديد أفطر وأفطر المسلمون معه فلم يصم
