A man from Tahiya named Bayrah bin Asad set out as an emigrant and arrived in Medina a few days after the death of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Umar saw him and recognized that he was a stranger, so he asked him, "Who are you?"He replied, "I am from the people of Oman."Umar said, "Indeed!" Then he took him by the hand and brought him in to Abu Bakr and said, "This man is from the land whose people I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mention when he said, 'I know of a land called Oman, with the sea washing against its shore. In it dwells a tribe of the Arabs who, if my messenger came to them, would not cast at him a single arrow or stone.'"
حدثنا يزيد أخبرنا جرير أنبأنا الزبير بن الخريت
خرج رجل من طاحية مهاجرا يقال له بيرح بن أسد فقدم المدينة بعد وفاة رسول الله ﷺ بأيام فرآه عمر رضي الله عنه فعلم أنه غريب فقال له من أنت قال من أهل عمان قال نعم قال فأخذ بيده فأدخله على أبي بكر رضي الله عنه فقال هذا من أهل الأرض التي سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول إني لأعلم أرضا يقال لها عمان ينضح بناحيتها البحر بها حي من العرب لو أتاهم رسولي ما رموه بسهم ولا حجر
