The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Twelve thousand will come forth from Aden Abyan to give victory to Allah and His Messenger. They are the best between me and them."Muamar said to me, "Go and ask him about this hadith."

قال رسول الله ﷺ يخرج من عدن أبين اثنا عشر ألفا ينصرون الله ورسوله هم خير من بيني وبينهم قال لي معمر اذهب فاسأله عن هذا الحديث

Its isnad is sahih. Mundhir bin Numan al-Aftas al-Yamani was deemed trustworthy by Ibn Main, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators, and Bukhari gave his biography in al-Kabir 4/1/358-359. What further supports his reliability is that Mamar instructed Abdul-Razzaq to go and hear this hadith from him.The hadith appears in Majma al-Zawaid 10:55, attributed to Abu Yaala and Tabarani. He said, "Its narrators are the narrators of the sahih collections, except for Mundhir al-Aftas, and he is trustworthy," but he failed to attribute it to the Musnad.Adan Abyan, with the hamzah and the ya both vocalized with fatha, and between them a stationary unpointed ba, is the Adan located on the coast of the sea, distinguished thereby from Adan Laah. Yaqut said in 6:127, "Laah is a city on Mount Sabir, among the districts of Sanaa, beside which lies a small village called Adan Laah," which is not the coastal Adan Abyan. I myself have visited Adan Laah.
