I came to Ibn Abbas and said, "So-and-so has gotten married." He brought us food, and we ate. Then he brought us thirteen lizards, and some of us ate while others abstained.One of those present with Ibn Abbas said, "I will neither eat it, nor declare it forbidden, nor order it, nor prohibit it."Ibn Abbas said, "What an evil thing you say. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sent only to declare things lawful and unlawful. Lizard meat was once brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he extended his hand to eat from it."Maymunah said, "Messenger of Allah, it is the meat of a lizard."So he withdrew his hand and said, "This is meat I have never eaten. But all of you, eat."So Fadl bin Abbas, Khalid bin Walid, and a woman who was with them ate from it.Maymunah said, "I will not eat what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has not eaten."
حدثنا أسباط حدثنا أبو إسحاق يعني الشيباني
أتيت ابن عباس فقلت تزوج فلان فقرب إلينا طعاما فأكلنا ثم قرب إلينا ثلاثة عشر ضبا فبين آكل وتارك فقال بعض من عند ابن عباس لا آكله ولا أحرمه ولا آمر به ولا أنهى عنه فقال ابن عباس بئس ما تقولون ما بعث رسول الله ﷺ إلا محلا ومحرما قرب لرسول الله ﷺ فمد يده ليأكل منه فقالت ميمونة يا رسول الله إنه لحم ضب فكف يده وقال هذا لحم لم آكله قط فكلوا فأكل الفضل بن عباس وخالد بن الوليد وامرأة كانت معهم وقالت ميمونة لا آكل مما لم يأكل منه رسول الله ﷺ
