The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Jibreel came to me and commanded me to raise my voice with the talbiyah."
حدثنا عبد الصمد حدثنا عبد الرحمن يعني ابن عبد الله بن دينار حدثنا أبو حازم عن جعفر
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال إن جبريل أتاني فأمرني أن أعلن التلبية
Its isnad is sahih. Abdul-Rahman bin Abdullah bin Dinar is trustworthy, though some scholars considered him weak. Ibn Main said, "In my view there is weakness in his hadith." Yahya Qattan narrated from him, and Hafiz said in the introduction to Fath al-Bari, "It is enough that Yahya narrated from him." Ibn Madini said, "He is truthful." Bukhari included his narrations in several places in his Sahih. Daraqutni said, "In this Bukhari differed from other scholars," but he is not to be abandoned, and neither Bukhari nor Nasai mentioned him among the weak narrators. This hadith appears in Majma al-Zawaid, 3:224, where it says, "Ahmad narrated it, and it contains Jafar bin Ayyash, who is among the successors of the people of Madinah. Abu Hazim Salama bin Dinar narrated from him, and no one has criticized him, and the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih."Regarding this Jafar, Hafiz was uncertain in Tajil, saying, "Jafar bin Abbas or Ibn Ayyash," then adding, "It is possible that he is Jafar bin Ayyash." This doubt is unnecessary, for he is in fact Jafar bin Tamam bin Abbas bin Abdul-Muttalib. Bukhari mentioned him in Kabir, 2/1/187, giving his biography and citing this very hadith within it. Jafar bin Tamam is a trustworthy successor, as we stated in 1835, and praise be to Allah. Abu Hazim is from Madinah. What further supports that he is indeed this person is that Bukhari did not mention any Jafar bin Abbas or Ibn Ayyash, and he is not one to overlook such a figure. So if he is indeed this person, the isnad would be sahih.
