Abdullah bin Abbas said, "I was with my father in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ, and there was a man with him speaking to him privately." In Affan's version, he added, "and he appeared to be turning away from Abbas."Abdullah continued, "Then we left him, and my father said, 'Did you not notice your cousin, how he seemed to be turning away from me?'I said, 'There was a man with him speaking to him privately.'"In Affan's version, my father asked, "Was there someone with him?"I said, "Yes."So my father went back to him and said, "Messenger of Allah, was there someone with you? Abdullah told me that there was a man with you whom you were speaking to privately."The Prophet asked, "Did you see him, Abdullah?"I said, "Yes."He said, "That was Jibreel, and he is the one who kept me from attending to you."Affan narrated it to us with the wording, "that there was a man with you speaking to you privately."
