I was with my father in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ, and there was a man speaking privately with him. Affan said, the Prophet seemed to be turning away from Abbas. When we left, my father said, "Did you not see how your cousin seemed to be turning away from me?"I replied, "There was a man with him speaking privately to him."Affan said, my father then asked, "Was there someone with him?"I said, "Yes."So he went back to him and said, "Messenger of Allah, was there someone with you? Abdullah told me that there was a man with you whom you were speaking to privately."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Did you see him, Abdullah?"I replied, "Yes."He said, "That was Jibreel, and he is the one who kept me occupied from you."Affan narrated to us, "There was a man with you speaking privately to you."

كنت مع أبي عند النبي ﷺ وعنده رجل يناجيه قال عفان وهو كالمعرض عن العباس فخرجنا من عنده فقال ألم تر إلى ابن عمك كالمعرض عني فقلت إنه كان عنده رجل يناجيه قال عفان فقال أو كان عنده أحد قلت نعم قال فرجع إليه فقال يا رسول الله هل كان عندك أحد فإن عبد الله أخبرني أن عندك رجلا تناجيه قال هل رأيته يا عبد الله قال نعم قال ذاك جبريل وهو الذي شغلني عنك حدثنا عفان إنه كان عندك رجل يناجيك
