Asma bint Yazid reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ once sat in a gathering and spoke to them about the one-eyed Dajjal. He said that three years would precede him. In the first year the sky would withhold a third of its rain and the earth a third of its produce. In the second the sky would withhold two thirds of its rain and the earth two thirds of its produce. In the third the sky would withhold its rain entirely and the earth all of its produce, so that no animal with teeth and no cloven-hoofed beast would remain alive, all of them would perish."The severest of his trials," he said, "is that he will come to a bedouin and say, 'What would you think if I brought your camels back to life for you? Would you not then know that I am your lord?' The man will answer, 'Yes indeed.' Then the devils will take on the likeness of his camels, with the finest udders and the largest humps."And he will come to a man whose brother has died and whose father has died, and he will say, 'What would you think if I brought your father back to life for you, and brought your brother back to life for you? Would you not then know that I am your lord?' The man will answer, 'Yes indeed.' Then the devils will take on the likeness of his father and his brother."Asma said, "Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to attend to a need, and afterwards he returned, while the people were still anxious and distressed at what he had told them. He took hold of the two doorposts and said, 'Mahyam, Asma?'"She said, "I answered, 'Messenger of Allah, you have torn our hearts from us with this talk of Dajjal.'"He said, "If he comes out while I am alive, I will be the one to contend with him, and if not, then my Lord is my successor over every believer."Asma said, "Messenger of Allah, by Allah, we knead our dough and cannot even bake it before hunger overtakes us. How will the believers manage on that day?"He said, "What suffices the inhabitants of heaven will suffice them, glorifying and sanctifying Allah."In another version there is this addition. He said, "Mahyam." This was the word the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used whenever he inquired about something, he would say, "Mahyam." And it adds, "Whoever is present at my gathering and hears my words, let those of you who are present convey them to those who are absent. Know that Allah عز وجل is whole and is not one-eyed, whereas Dajjal is one-eyed, with a wiped-out eye, and between his eyes is written 'disbeliever,' which every believer will read, whether literate or not."
