The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in my house when he mentioned the Dajjal and said, "Before his coming there will be three years. In one year the sky will withhold a third of its rain and the earth a third of its produce. In the second year the sky will withhold two-thirds of its rain and the earth two-thirds of its produce. In the third year the sky will withhold all of its rain and the earth all of its produce, so that no animal with teeth or hooves will remain alive but will perish.The most severe of his trials is that he will come to an Arabi and say, 'Tell me, if I bring your camels back to life for you, will you not acknowledge that I am your lord?' The man will reply, 'Yes.' Then devils will appear to him in the likeness of his camels, with the finest udders and the largest humps.He will come to a man whose brother and father have died and say, 'Tell me, if I bring your father and brother back to life for you, will you not acknowledge that I am your lord?' The man will say, 'Yes.' Then devils will appear to him in the likeness of his father and his brother."Asma said, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ left briefly to attend to a need and then returned. The people were still in distress and grief from what he had told them. He took hold of the doorposts and said, "How are you, Asma?"I said, "Messenger of Allah, you have torn our hearts from us with this mention of the Dajjal."He said, "If he comes out while I am alive, I will be sufficient against him on your behalf. Otherwise, my Lord will be my successor over every believer."Asma said, "Messenger of Allah, by Allah, we knead our dough and cannot bake it before we grow hungry. How will the believers fare on that day?"He said, "What suffices the inhabitants of heaven will suffice them, the glorification and sanctification of Allah."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق أخبرنا معمر عن قتادة عن شهر بن حوشب
كان رسول الله ﷺ في بيتي فذكر الدجال فقال إن بين يديه ثلاث سنين سنة تمسك السماء ثلث قطرها والأرض ثلث نباتها والثانية تمسك السماء ثلثي قطرها والأرض ثلثي نباتها والثالثة تمسك السماء قطرها كله والأرض نباتها كله فلا يبقى ذات ضرس ولا ذات ظلف من البهائم إلا هلكت وإن أشد فتنته أن يأتي الأعرابي فيقول أرأيت إن أحييت لك إبلك ألست تعلم أني ربك قال فيقول بلى فتمثل الشياطين له نحو إبله كأحسن ما تكون ضروعها وأعظمه أسنمة قال ويأتي الرجل قد مات أخوه ومات أبوه فيقول أرأيت إن أحييت لك أباك وأحييت لك أخاك ألست تعلم أني ربك فيقول بلى فتمثل له الشياطين نحو أبيه ونحو أخيه قالت ثم خرج رسول الله ﷺ لحاجة ثم رجع قالت والقوم في اهتمام وغم مما حدثهم به قالت فأخذ بلجمتي الباب وقال مهيم أسماء قالت قلت يا رسول الله لقد خلعت أفئدتنا بذكر الدجال قال وإن يخرج وأنا حي فأنا حجيجه وإلا فإن ربي خليفتي على كل مؤمن قالت أسماء يا رسول الله إنا والله لنعجن عجينتنا فما نختبزها حتى نجوع فكيف بالمؤمنين يومئذ قال يجزيهم ما يجزي أهل السماء من التسبيح والتقديس
