Abu Darda asked me, "Where do you live?"I replied, "In a village near Homs."He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'There are no three people in a village among whom the call to prayer is not made and the prayers are not established except that Satan gains mastery over them. Hold fast to the congregation, for the wolf only devours the stray sheep.'"Ibn Mahdi said that Saaib explained, "By 'the congregation,' he meant the congregational prayer."
حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي عن زائدة بن قدامة ووكيع قال حدثني زائدة بن قدامة عن السائب قال وكيع ابن حبيش الكلاعي
قال لي أبو الدرداء أين مسكنك قال قلت في قرية دون حمص قال سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول ما من ثلاثة في قرية فلا يؤذن ولا تقام فيهم الصلوات إلا استحوذ عليهم الشيطان عليك بالجماعة فإنما يأكل الذئب القاصية قال ابن مهدي قال السائب يعني بالجماعة في الصلاة
