He was a truthful man, reporting from a woman of Banu Abd al-Ashhal who said, "Messenger of Allah, we have a foul-smelling path to the mosque. What should we do when it rains?"He replied, "Is there not a cleaner stretch of path after it?"She said, "I answered, Yes."He said, "Then this makes up for that."

Its isnad is sahih. Abdan bin Isa is Ibn Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Layla, one of the well-known trustworthy narrators, and Musa bin Abdullah is Ibn Yazid Ansari Khatmi, who is trustworthy, his hadith appearing in Muslim. The hadith has already appeared in similar form at 26368, and this wording appears in Abu Dawud 1/104 no. 384, Ibn Abu Shayba 1/56, and Ibn Majah 1/177 no. 533, all in the chapter on purification.
