A sheep of ours died, so we tanned its hide and kept soaking dates in it to make nabidh until it became a worn-out skin.
حدثنا ابن نمير عن إسماعيل عن عكرمة عن ابن عباس
ماتت شاة لنا فدبغنا مسكها فما زلنا ننبذ به حتى صار شنا
Its isnad is sahih. Bukhari reported it, 11/569, no. 6686, in Oaths and Vows, "If one swears not to drink nabidh," and Muslim, 1/276, no. 363, in Menstruation, "The purification of the skins of dead animals through tanning," and Tirmidhi, 4/221, no. 1727, in Clothing, and he said, hasan sahih, and Nasai, 7/173, no. 4240, in Farra and Atirah, and Ibn Hibban, 4/97, no. 1280, in Al-Ihsan, and Bayhaqi, 1/16, and it has already preceded in the Musnad of Ibn Abbas.
