I was with Abu Umar bin Hafs bin Mughira, and he had divorced me twice. Then he set out with Ali bin Abu Talib to Yemen when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ dispatched him there, and he sent me my third pronouncement of divorce. The one in charge of his affairs in Medina was Ayyash bin Abu Rabia bin Mughira.She said, I asked him for my maintenance and lodging.He replied, "You have no claim on us for maintenance or lodging, unless we choose to be generous to you out of kindness."She said, I responded, "If I am not entitled to it, then I have no need of it."She continued, So I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him my story and what Ayyash had said to me.He said, "He spoke the truth. You have no right to maintenance or lodging from them, and he has no power to take you back. You must observe the waiting period. Move to the home of Umm Sharik, your cousin, and stay with her until your waiting period ends."Then he said, "No, she is a woman whose Muslim brothers visit her. Rather, move to the home of your cousin Ibn Umm Maktum, for he is blind. Stay with him, and when your waiting period is complete, do not fail to inform me."She said, By Allah, I did not think at that moment that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted me except for himself.She said, When my waiting period ended, he proposed to me on behalf of Usama bin Zayd, and he married me to him.Abu Salama said, She dictated this hadith of hers to me, and I wrote it down with my own hand.
حدثنا يعقوب بن إبراهيم حدثنا أبى عن ابن إسحاق قال حدثني عمران بن أبي أنس أخو بني عامر بن لؤي عن أبي سلمة بن عبد الرحمن بن عوف
كنت عند أبي عمرو بن حفص بن المغيرة وكان قد طلقني تطليقتين ثم إنه سار مع علي بن أبي طالب إلى اليمن حين بعثه رسول الله ﷺ إليه فبعث إلي بتطليقتي الثالثة وكان صاحب أمره بالمدينة عياش بن أبي ربيعة بن المغيرة قالت فقلت له نفقتي وسكناي فقال ما لك علينا من نفقة ولا سكنى إلا أن نتطول عليك من عندنا بمعروف نصنعه قالت فقلت لئن لم يكن لي ما لي به من حاجة قالت فجئت رسول الله ﷺ فأخبرته خبري وما قال لي عياش فقال صدق ليس لك عليهم نفقة ولا سكنى وليست له فيك ردة وعليك العدة فانتقلي إلى أم شريك ابنة عمك فكوني عندها حتى تحلي قالت ثم قال لا تلك امرأة يزورها إخوتها من المسلمين ولكن انتقلي إلى ابن عمك ابن أم مكتوم فإنه مكفوف البصر فكوني عنده فإذا حللت فلا تفوتيني بنفسك قالت والله ما أظن رسول الله ﷺ حينئذ يريدني إلا لنفسه قالت فلما حللت خطبني على أسامة بن زيد فزوجنيه قال أبو سلمة أملت علي حديثها هذا وكتبته بيدي
