The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I asked my Lord for four things, and He granted me three and withheld one. I asked Allah
not to let my community unite upon misguidance, and He granted me that. I asked Allah
not to destroy them with years of famine as He destroyed the nations before them, and He granted me that. And I asked Allah
not to divide them into sects and make them taste the violence of one another, but He withheld that from me."
حدثنا يونس قال حدثنا ليث عن أبي وهب الخولاني عن رجل قد سماه
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال سألت ربي عز وجل أربعا فأعطاني ثلاثا ومنعني واحدة سألت الله عز وجل أن لا يجمع أمتي على ضلالة فأعطانيها وسألت الله عز وجل أن لا يهلكهم بالسنين كما أهلك الأمم قبلهم فأعطانيها وسألت الله عز وجل أن لا يلبسهم شيعا ويذيق بعضهم بأس بعض فمنعنيها
