Kaab bin Malik reported,

The Prophet ﷺ passed by him while he was holding onto a man, demanding payment.The Prophet ﷺ asked, "What is this?"He replied, "Messenger of Allah, this is a debtor of mine."The Prophet ﷺ gestured with his hand that he should take half.I said, "Yes, Messenger of Allah."So he took half and forgave the other half.

عن عبد الله بن كعب بن مالك عن أبيه

أن النبي ﷺ مر به وهو ملازم رجلا فقال ما هذا قال يا رسول الله غريم لي وأشار بيده أن يأخذ النصف قلت يا رسول الله نعم قال فأخذ الشطر وترك الشطر
