The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the day of the conquest of Mecca, "Allah has made Mecca sacred. It was not the people who made it sacred. So whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day must not shed blood within it, nor cut down its trees. If anyone seeks a concession by saying that it was made lawful for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then know that Allah made it lawful for me alone, and not for the people, and only for this hour of my day. It is sacred once again until the Day of Resurrection.People of Khuza, you have killed this man, and I will pay his blood-money. But whoever has a relative killed after this declaration of mine, his family has one of two choices, either to have the killer put to death, or to accept the blood-money."
