I was among those who washed Umm Kulthum, daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, at the time of her death. The first thing the Messenger of Allah ﷺ handed to us was the waist-wrapper, then the shift, then the head-covering, then the outer wrap, and after that she was wrapped in the remaining garment.She said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was at the door with her shroud, passing the garments to us one by one.
حدثنا يعقوب قال حدثنا أبي عن ابن إسحاق قال حدثني نوح بن حكيم الثقفي وكان قارئا للقرآن عن رجل من بني عروة بن مسعود يقال له داود قد ولدته أم حبيبة بنت أبي سفيان زوج النبي ﷺ
كنت فيمن غسل أم كلثوم بنت رسول الله ﷺ عند وفاتها وكان أول ما أعطانا رسول الله ﷺ الحقاء ثم الدرع ثم الخمار ثم الملحفة ثم أدرجت بعد في الثوب الآخر قالت ورسول الله ﷺ عند الباب معه كفنها يناولناه ثوبا ثوبا
Its chain of transmission is daif, due to the unidentified status of Dawud, one of the sons of Urwa bin Masud. They likewise did not know Nuh bin Hakeem Thaqafi. The hadith about the women washing Umm Kulthum, the daughter of the Prophet ﷺ, is sahih on the authority of Umm Atiya. See 29669.
