When Jafar and his companions were killed in battle, I had just finished tanning forty hides, kneading my dough, and washing my children, oiling them and cleaning them up. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in. He said, "Bring me the sons of Jafar."So I brought them to him. He smelled them, and his eyes filled with tears.I said, "Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, what makes you weep? Has news reached you about Jafar and his companions?"He replied, "Yes. They were killed today."I rose up crying out, and the women gathered around me. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then went out to his household and said, "Do not neglect to prepare food for the family of Jafar, for they are preoccupied with the matter of their loved one."
حدثنا يعقوب قال حدثني أبي عن محمد بن إسحاق قال حدثنا عبد الله بن أبي بكر عن أم عيسى الجزار عن أم جعفر بنت محمد بن جعفر بن أبي طالب
لما أصيب جعفر وأصحابه دخلت على رسول الله ﷺ وقد دبغت أربعين منيئة وعجنت عجيني وغسلت بني ودهنتهم ونظفتهم فقال رسول الله ﷺ ائتيني ببني جعفر قالت فأتيته بهم فشمهم وذرفت عيناه فقلت يا رسول الله بأبي أنت وأمي ما يبكيك أبلغك عن جعفر وأصحابه شيء قال نعم أصيبوا هذا اليوم قالت فقمت أصيح واجتمع إلي النساء وخرج رسول الله ﷺ إلى أهله فقال لا تغفلوا آل جعفر من أن تصنعوا لهم طعاما فإنهم قد شغلوا بأمر صاحبهم
