I was with my mother Raita bint Sufyan al-Khuzaiyyah while the Prophet ﷺ was taking the pledge of allegiance from the women. He said, "I take your pledge that you will not associate anything with Allah, that you will not steal, that you will not commit fornication, that you will not kill your children, that you will not bring forth a slander you have invented between your hands and feet, and that you will not disobey in what is right."She said, they remained silent, so the Prophet ﷺ said to them, "Say, 'Yes, to the extent that we are able.'"So they began to say it, and I said it along with them, and my mother prompted me, "Say, my dear daughter, 'Yes, to the extent that I am able.'"So I said as they were saying.

Its chain of transmission is hasan, on account of Uthman bin Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin Hatib and his father. Ibn Hibban rated both of them trustworthy, while Abu Hatim's statements about Uthman varied, at one time declaring him daif, and at another saying, "His standing is one of truthfulness." His father was praised by others, while some spoke critically of him, though he was a scholar. Haythami declared the hadith daif on account of him, 6/38, and it is found in Tabarani's Al-Kabir, 24/261, number 663.However, it can only be graded hasan on the basis of corroborating support, for the hadith of the women's pledge of allegiance is well known in the authentic collections. See 26888 and its cross-references.
