The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in to visit me, and with him was Ali bin Abu Talib, who was recovering from an illness. We had clusters of dates hanging up, so the Prophet ﷺ stood up, and Ali began eating from them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ kept saying, "Easy, Ali, you are still recovering," until Ali stopped.She said, "I had prepared barley and chard, and when I brought it out, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Ali, 'Take some of this, it is more suitable for you.'" So they both ate from it.
حدثنا سريج قال حدثنا فليح عن أيوب بن عبد الرحمن بن صعصعة الأنصاري عن يعقوب بن أبي يعقوب
دخل علي رسول الله ﷺ ومعه علي بن أبي طالب وعلي ناقه من مرض قالت ولنا دوال معلقة فقام النبي ﷺ وعلي يأكلان منها فطفق رسول الله ﷺ يقول مهلا فإنك ناقه حتى كف علي قالت وقد صنعت شعيرا وسلقا فلما جئنا به قال رسول الله ﷺ لعلي من هذا أصب فهو أوفق لك فأكلا ذلك
