Khalid bin Zakwan reported,

I asked Rabi bint Muawiz bin Afra about the fast of Ashura. She said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the day of Ashura, 'Who among you has begun the day fasting?'"She continued, "They replied, 'Some of us are fasting and some are not.'"He said, "Then complete the rest of your day, and send word to those around Madinah to complete the rest of their day as well."

حدثنا علي بن عاصم قال أخبرنا

خالد بن ذكوان قال

سألت الربيع بنت معوذ ابن عفراء عن صوم عاشوراء فقالت قال رسول الله ﷺ يوم عاشوراء من أصبح منكم صائما قال قالوا منا الصائم ومنا المفطر قال فأتموا بقية يومكم وأرسلوا إلى من حول المدينة فليتموا بقية يومهم
