I came to the Prophet ﷺ among a group of women to give him our pledge of allegiance. He took from us what is mentioned in the Quran, that we would not associate anything with Allah, and the rest of the verse. He said, "As far as you are able and willing."We said, "Allah and His Messenger are more merciful to us than we are to ourselves."We said, "Messenger of Allah, will you not shake our hands?"He replied, "I do not shake hands with women. My word to one woman is the same as my word to a hundred women."
حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي قال حدثنا سفيان عن محمد يعني ابن المنكدر
أتيت النبي ﷺ في نساء نبايعه فأخذ علينا ما في القرآن أن لا نشرك بالله شيئا الآية قال فيما استطعتن وأطعتن قلنا الله ورسوله أرحم بنا من أنفسنا قلنا يا رسول الله ألا تصافحنا قال إني لا أصافح النساء إنما قولي لامرأة واحدة كقولي لمائة امرأة
