Abu Nadra reported,

Ibn Abbas addressed us from this pulpit, the pulpit of Basra, and said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There was never a prophet who did not have a prayer that he had answered in this world, but I have saved my prayer as intercession for my community. I am the master of the children of Adam on the Day of Resurrection, and I say this without boasting. I am the first over whom the earth will split open, and I say this without boasting. In my hand is the banner of praise, and I say this without boasting. Adam and all who came after him will be beneath my banner."He continued, "The Day of Resurrection will drag on so long for people that they will say to one another, 'Come, let us go to Adam, the father of mankind, so that he may intercede for us with his Lord and He may pass judgment among us.'So they will come to Adam and say, 'Adam, you are the one whom Allah created with His own hand, whom He settled in His Garden, and before whom He had His angels prostrate. Intercede for us with your Lord so that He may pass judgment among us.'Adam will reply, 'I am not the one for that. I was expelled from the Garden because of my sin, and today I am concerned with nothing but myself. But go to Nuh, the foremost of the prophets.'So they will come to Nuh and say, 'Nuh, intercede for us with your Lord so that He may pass judgment among us.'He will reply, 'I am not the one for that. I once made a supplication that drowned all the people of the earth, and today I am concerned with nothing but myself. But go to Ibrahim, the intimate friend of Allah .'So they will come to Ibrahim and say, 'Ibrahim, intercede for us with your Lord so that He may pass judgment among us.'He will reply, 'I am not the one for that. I told three untruths in the cause of Islam, and today I am concerned with nothing but myself.'"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By those words he intended nothing except the defense of Allah's religion. They were his saying, 'I am indeed sick' [Saffat 37:89], his saying, 'Rather, this greatest one of them did it' [Anbiya 21:63], and his saying about his wife that she was his sister."Ibrahim will say, 'But go to Musa , whom Allah chose for His message and His speech.'So they will come to Musa and say, 'Musa, you are the one whom Allah chose for His message and to whom He spoke. Intercede for us with your Lord so that He may pass judgment among us.'He will reply, 'I am not the one for that. I killed a man though he had killed no one, and today I am concerned with nothing but myself. But go to Isa, the spirit of Allah and His word.'So they will come to Isa and say, 'Isa, you are the spirit of Allah and His word. Intercede for us with your Lord so that He may pass judgment among us.'He will reply, 'I am not the one for that. I was taken as a god besides Allah, and today I am concerned with nothing but myself.'Then Isa will ask them, 'Tell me, if there were goods in a container that had been sealed, could anyone reach what was inside the container without breaking the seal?'They will answer, 'No.'So he will say, 'Muhammad ﷺ is the seal of the prophets. He is present today, and he has been forgiven his earlier and later sins.'"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "So they will come to me and say, 'Muhammad, intercede for us with your Lord so that He may pass judgment among us.'And I will say, 'Yes, I am the one for it,' until Allah gives permission to whomever He wills and is pleased with.Then when Allah wills to separate His creation for judgment, a caller will call out, 'Where is Ahmad and his community?' We are the last yet the first. We are the final of the communities and the first to be brought to account. The other communities will part to make way for us, and we will pass through with our faces and limbs shining from the traces of purification, while the nations say, 'This community was very nearly all prophets.'"He continued, "Then I will come to the gate of the Garden and take hold of its ring and knock on the gate.A voice will ask, 'Who are you?'I will say, 'Muhammad.'Then it will be opened for me, and I will see my Lord upon His seat, and I will fall down prostrate before Him and praise Him with praises that no one before me has ever offered Him and no one after me will ever offer Him.Then it will be said, 'Raise your head. Speak, and you will be heard. Ask, and you will be given. Intercede, and your intercession will be granted.'So I will raise my head and say, 'My Lord, my community, my community.'And it will be said to me, 'Bring out of the Fire everyone who had in his heart the weight of such and such.'So I will bring them out. Then I will return and fall prostrate and praise Him with praises that no one before me has ever offered Him and no one after me will ever offer Him.Then it will be said to me, 'Raise your head. Speak, and you will be heard. Ask, and you will be given. Intercede, and your intercession will be granted.'So I will raise my head and say, 'My Lord, my community, my community.'And it will be said, 'Bring out of the Fire everyone who had in his heart the weight of such and such.'So I will bring them out."And he said that the same thing happened a third time as well.

حدثنا حسن حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن علي بن زيد

عن أبي نضرة قال

خطبنا ابن عباس على هذا المنبر منبر البصرة قال قال رسول الله ﷺ إنه لم يكن نبي إلا له دعوة تنجزها في الدنيا وإني اختبأت دعوتي شفاعة لأمتي وأنا سيد ولد آدم يوم القيامة ولا فخر وأنا أول من تنشق عنه الأرض ولا فخر وبيدي لواء الحمد ولا فخر آدم فمن دونه تحت لوائي قال ويطول يوم القيامة على الناس حتى يقول بعضهم لبعض انطلقوا بنا إلى آدم أبي البشر فيشفع لنا إلى ربه عز وجل فليقض بيننا فيأتون آدم عليه السلام فيقولون يا آدم أنت الذي خلقك الله بيده وأسكنك جنته وأسجد لك ملائكته فاشفع لنا إلى ربك فليقض بيننا فيقول إني لست هناكم إني قد أخرجت من الجنة بخطيئتي وإنه لا يهمني اليوم إلا نفسي ولكن ائتوا نوحا رأس النبيين فيأتون نوحا فيقولون يا نوح اشفع لنا إلى ربك فليقض بيننا فيقول إني لست هناكم إني قد دعوت دعوة غرقت أهل الأرض وإنه لا يهمني اليوم إلا نفسي ولكن ائتوا إبراهيم خليل الله عليه السلام قال فيأتون إبراهيم فيقولون يا إبراهيم اشفع لنا إلى ربك فليقض بيننا فيقول إني لست هناكم إني قد كذبت في الإسلام ثلاث كذبات وإنه لا يهمني اليوم إلا نفسي فقال رسول الله ﷺ إن حاول بهن إلا عن دين الله قوله {إني سقيم} وقوله {بل فعله كبيرهم هذا} وقوله لامرأته إنها أختي ولكن ائتوا موسى عليه السلام الذي اصطفاه الله برسالته وكلامه فيأتون موسى فيقولون يا موسى أنت الذي اصطفاك الله برسالته وكلمك فاشفع لنا إلى ربك فليقض بيننا فيقول إني لست هناكم إني قتلت نفسا بغير نفس وإنه لا يهمني اليوم إلا نفسي ولكن ائتوا عيسى روح الله وكلمته فيأتون عيسى فيقولون يا عيسى أنت روح الله وكلمته فاشفع لنا إلى ربك فليقض بيننا فيقول إني لست هناكم قد اتخذت إلها من دون الله وإنه لا يهمني اليوم إلا نفسي ثم قال أرأيتم لو كان متاع في وعاء قد ختم عليه أكان يقدر على ما في الوعاء حتى يفض الخاتم فيقولون لا فيقول إن محمدا ﷺ خاتم النبيين قد حضر اليوم وقد غفر له ما تقدم من ذنبه وما تأخر قال رسول الله ﷺ فيأتوني فيقولون يا محمد اشفع لنا إلى ربك فليقض بيننا فأقول نعم أنا لها حتى يأذن الله لمن يشاء ويرضى فإذا أراد الله عز وجل أن يصدع بين خلقه نادى مناد أين أحمد وأمته فنحن الآخرون الأولون فنحن آخر الأمم وأول من يحاسب فتفرج لنا الأمم عن طريقنا فنمضي غرا محجلين من أثر الطهور وتقول الأمم كادت هذه الأمة أن تكون أنبياء كلها قال ثم آتي باب الجنة فآخذ بحلقة باب الجنة فأقرع الباب فيقال من أنت فأقول محمد فيفتح لي فأرى ربي عز وجل وهو على كرسيه أو سريره فأخر له ساجدا وأحمده بمحامد لم يحمده بها أحد كان قبلي ولا يحمده بها أحد بعدي فيقال ارفع رأسك وقل تسمع وسل تعطه واشفع تشفع قال فأرفع رأسي فأقول أي رب أمتي أمتي فيقال لي أخرج من النار من كان في قلبه مثقال كذا وكذا فأخرجهم ثم أعود فأخر ساجدا وأحمده بمحامد لم يحمده بها أحد كان قبلي ولا يحمده بها أحد بعدي فيقال لي ارفع رأسك وقل يسمع لك وسل تعطه واشفع تشفع فأرفع رأسي فأقول أي رب أمتي أمتي فيقال أخرج من النار من كان في قلبه مثقال كذا وكذا فأخرجهم قال وقال في الثالثة مثل هذا أيضا
