A woman was experiencing continuous bleeding during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, sought a ruling on her behalf.He said, "She should observe the number of nights and days during the month that she used to menstruate before this affliction came upon her, and she should refrain from prayer for that portion of the month. Once that period has passed, she should perform a full bath, fasten a cloth around herself, and then pray."

أن امرأة كانت تهراق الدم على عهد رسول الله ﷺ فاستفتت لها أم سلمة زوج النبي ﷺ فقال لتنظر عدة الليالي والأيام التي كانت تحيضهن من الشهر قبل أن يصيبها الذي أصابها فلتترك الصلاة قدر ذلك من الشهر فإذا بلغت ذلك فلتغتسل ثم تستثفر بثوب ثم تصلي
